Exertainment Mountain Bike Rally Speed Racer ComboThe rarest game on the Super Nintendo, Exertainment Bike Rally/Speed Racer Combo is two games for the price of one (also available separately, however they are much more common) . This dual-game may have never even seen full retail distribution and it’s thought that their are less than 2,000 copies ever made.

Exertainment Bike Rally/Speed Racer Combo allowed you to pedal your bike and make your character move faster by using specially designed controllers that you attached to your Life Cycle handle bars. The Life Cycle was a Nintendo exercise bike that is also incredibly rare. They are available on eBay for as much as $10,000.

DONKEY KONG COUNTY COMPETITION CARTRIDGE (1994)
RARITY: 9, PRICE: Complete $3,400, Loose $1,200

Donkey Kong Country Competition CartridgeOne of the most expensive and sought after games on the SNES, Donkey Kong County Competition Cartridge is a special timed version of DKC where you have five minutes to collect as many points as possible.

The game was used in the Powerfest ’94 Championship Finals. It was also used at the Blockbuster World Video Game Championships in 1995.

The cart label look almost exactly the same as the standard game. However you can tell the difference by the words ”Competition Cartridge” printed on the top right hand corner of the label.

It is believed that their is approximately 2,500 copies of the game, making it one of the most valuable SNES games around.

SUPER COPA (1993)

Super CopaSuper Copa is essentially a Spanish/Mexican version of Tony Meola’s Sidekicks Soccer. While Sidekicks Soccer isn’t a sought after game, the Spanish Super Copa version very much is.

While Super Copa is still very rare SNES game, more and more copies are now being sold from Mexico where the game was released.

STARFOX: SUPER WEEKEND CARTRIDGE (1993)
RARITY: 9, PRICE: Complete N/A, Loose $900

StarFox Super Weekend CartridgeThe Super StarFox Weekend was a contest run by Nintendo to promote the release of StarFox. The competition occurred in approximately 1500 to 2000 different locations across the USA. Additional cartridges were sold by Nintendo Power and Blockbusters, the original packaging put the production number at around 2,000.

In January 2017, a copy sold on eBay for $900, making it one of the most valuable games on the SNES.

FUN N GAMES (1994)
RARITY: 9 (boxed), PRICE: Complete $810, Loose $50

Fun N GamesFun N Games is a compilation of puzzle, paint, music and arcade games that was released for the SNES in 1994. According to the staff who worked on the game their were only around 2000 copies made. This seems very low considering how easy it is to find on eBay.

However, while finding a copy of Fun N Games is not difficult, it’s the boxed copies which are both rare and incredibly valuable.

AERO FIGHTERS (1994)
RARITY: 8, PRICE: Complete $1,300, Loose $500

Aero FightersAero Fighters is an arcade game released in 1992 that got ported to the SNES two years later. While the SNES version is different to the arcade original, it is based heavily on it but with changes to playable characters.

When Aero Fighters was brought over to the USA from Japan it was made in very limited quantities. Because of the limited copies of the game it is one of the more rare SNES games. This has made it very valuable, especially when boxed.

FINAL FIGHT GUY (1994)

Final Fight GuyWhen Final Fight was ported from arcade to SNES the conversion was completed fairly well but with some major changes along the way. One of the stranger changes was to leave the playable character ‘Guy’ out. Keeping only Cody and Haggar as playable characters.

Capcom took offence to this and later released another version of the game called ‘Final Fight Guy’. This version dropped Cody from the playable characters, leaving only Guy and Haggar.

Because of it’s limited availability, Final Fight Guy comes with a fairly hefty price-tag. It’s one of the most valuable SNES games around, with loose copies selling on eBay for over $250.

MEGA MAX X3 (1995)

Mega Man X3Mega Man X3 is the third game in the Mega Man X series and the last to appear on the SNES. It also happens to be one of the best games graphically in the entire SNES catalogue.

Mega Man X3 follows in the tradition of previous Mega Man games. It’s a standard action platform game with eight stages and a boss at the end of every level.

While Mega Man X3 isn’t the rarest game, a boxed copy will still set you back north of $600 dollars.

WILD GUNS (1995)

Wild GunsWild Guns is a space Western following the story of Annie and her bounty hunter Clint, seeking revenge for the death of her family. The game is played similar to Time Crisis but using a 3rd person perspective rather than 1st person.

At the time of its release, Wild Guns was rated as one of the best shooter games on the SNES. Today, a boxed copy will set you back around $600 dollars while a loose copy will still sell for north of $200.

SUPER NOAH'S ARK 3D (1994)

Super Noah’s Ark 3DSuper Noah’s Ark 3D is an unlicensed Christian-themed game developed by Wisdom Tree and is a total conversion of Wolfenstein 3D. It was also the only commercially released SNES game in the USA that was not officially sanctioned by Nintendo.

The game makes use of a plug-thru cartridge that required another game to be attached in order to remove Wolfenstein’s references to violence and Nazi’. Replacing them with hungry animals requiring sleep-inducing foods. While the game may be laughably bad, it is the cartridge that makes this game an interesting piece and hugely collectable.

MIRACLE PIANO TEACHING SYSTEM (1991)

Miracle Piano Teaching SystemThe Miracle Piano Teaching System is an educational program that teaches you to play the piano through a keyboard peripheral which was included in the original package.

While the game on its own may not be that rare, the complete bundle with all cables and keyboard is. Therefore the complete package commands a high asking price.

CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X (1995)
RARITY: 6, PRICE: Complete $350, Loose $170

Castlevania Dracula XCastlevania: Dracula X is a port of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (PC) and the final Castlevania game to be released on the SNES.

Despite being a port the game was drastically changed from the original. It featured entirely different levels but many of the same enemies and bosses scattered throughout the game.

E.V.O: SEARCH FOR EDEN (1992)

E.V.O. Search For EdenEVO is one of those games that has a bit of a cult following, mix that with the fact the game is also fairly rare and you have yourself the perfect recipe for a game goldmine!

This side-scrolling platform game has you navigating a creature across a number of environments that resemble Earth’s past. Starting out as a fish, the player must travel across the planet defeating enemies and gaining the strength to evolve into more powerful and complex organisms.

While EVO may not be the most expensive SNES game around, factory sealed copies have sold on eBay for more than $3000.

NINJA GAIDEN TRILOGY (1995)

Ninja Gaiden TrilogyThe Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is a collection of the three Ninja Gaiden games for the NES. All three games are straight ports and not optimised for the SNES console. However their are several differences such as the pools of blood being green rather than red to make it more family friendly.

Lacklustre sales at launch meant that the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy today is fairly hard to find, and therefore commands a fairly hefty price.

HARVEST MOON (1997)

Harvest MoonHarvest Moon was one of the later releases for the Super Nintendo. Released in North America in 1997, long after PlayStation One, Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 had hit shelves. This meant that many gamers had already moved on to newer systems. Because of this less games were sold and therefore the game is rarer find today.

The game follows a young boy who is charged with looking after his absent father’s farm. The primary objective being restoring and maintaining the farm.

Sequels to the Harvest Moon original were released on Game Boy Advance and GameCube. This being the first in the series makes it that extra special for collectors, hence the fairly hefty price tag.

METAL WARRIORS (1995)

Metal WarriorsMetal Warriors is a side-scrolling game heavily influenced by Cybernator which was released a couple of years earlier.

Based on the same game engine as ‘Zombies Ate My Neighbours’, Metal Warriors sees you walking/jet-packing around spaceships in an assault-suit shooting at enemies that appear from all over the screen.

While it may not be the rare SNES game, it still comes at a fairly hefty price with boxed copies going for as much as $600.

POCKY & ROCKY 2 (1994)

Pocky & Rocky 2Pocky & Rocky 2 is a top-down view shoot ’em up game released for the SNES in 1994. The game revolves around a kidnapped princess, abducted by demons, led by a character named Impy. It’s the job of Pocky and friends to rescue the Princess from Impy.

The cult-following has made ‘Pocky & Rocky 2’ one of the most expensive SNES games around. Complete copies of the game have sold for as much as $1,600.

HAGANE: THE FINAL CONFLICT (1995)

Hagane The Final ConflictHagane: The Final Conflict is a Japanese created side-scrolling action game that blends elements of ninja and samurai in a futuristic setting. The player controls Hagane, a ninja cyborg who can make use of various weapons as he makes his way through the levels beating up anything that moves.

While it may not be a very rare SNES game, it still commands a hefty price-tag, both boxed and loose.

3 NINJAS KICK BACK (1994)

3 Ninjas Kick BackThose old enough may remember the 3 Ninjas movie that was released way back in 1992, two years later came the sequel ‘3 Ninjas Kick Back’ accompanied by the 3 Ninjas Kick Back game on SNES and various other consoles.

3 Ninjas Kick Back is a standard side-scrolling beat ’em up. While the loose version of the game is fairly common, it’s the complete boxed version which is highly sought after. Copies are selling for as much as $1,250.

EARTHBOUND (1995)
RARITY: 4, PRICE: Complete $660 Loose $175

EarthBoundEarthBound is not a rare SNES game, however it does have a cult-following which means the game is fairly expensive to buy as the prices are boosted by fans of the game.

This non-traditional RPG takes place in suburbia where your weapons are everyday household items. The story follows Ness, a young boy who is awakened by a meteor that crashes near his home. Ness encounters an insect from the meteor named Buzz Buzz. He informs Ness that he is from the future where Giygas dominates the planet and he must carry out a mission to stop this future becoming a reality.

Over the past few years the price of EarthBound has risen steeply, doubling in price between 2010 and 2017.
