Everyone knows what ‘Nerds’ are, the popular American candy is still available all over the world to this very day. However, many people may not know that in 1985 a Nerds Cereal was available for a short period of time.
The cereal box was divided into two different compartments, each containing its own flavour of nerds cereal. Two types were available, orange/cherry and strawberry/grape. It was described as being a “tiny tangy crunchy sweetened cereal”.
Nerds Cereal
The cereal’s premiums included small boxes of Nerds candy in the box and a send-away offer for a “Two-Sided Nerds Bowl” with a “Nerd Gate”. The “Nerd Gate” lifted to allow milk to flow from one side to the other while keeping the cereal flavours separate.
The two-sided bowl, as genius as it was, wasn’t enough to keep Nerds Cereal on the shelves for long. It would soon be discontinued while the candy continued to go from strength to strength.
