Dweebs candy, usually just called ‘Dweebs’, were produced by the Willy Wonka candy company in the 1990s. Dweebs looked a lot like Nerds (which had been around since 1983), but were larger, soft and chewy. The Dweebs box also did exactly what the Nerds box did, however, it had three compartments instead of just two.
Many people might assume that Dweebs were some sort of Nerds knock-off. However, it was the Willy Wonka candy company that also produced Nerds. The Dweebs box even stated ‘Cousin of the Nerds’ on it. So Dweebs were in fact more like an extension of the Nerds candy than a knock-off.
Each box came in three different flavors, they included Punch, Strawberry, Orange, and Cherry. A variation called ‘Super Sower Dweebs’ were also available for a period of time.
However Dweebs, unlike the far more popular candy Nerds, didn’t make it through the 1990s. They were discontinued after only a few years, sometime around the middle of the decade. Never to be seen again.
